“In the age of AI, it’s not just about what you know; it’s about how you think and apply that knowledge.”
I’m Charles Grill. I studied Applied Physics at Columbia and did quantum research at Bar-Ilan University. Now I run VStage Inc, where I build AI systems that actually work for businesses.
The resume covers the academics, but the real foundation came from years of hands-on work: sanitation for the City of Long Beach and direct care at HASC Center, working with individuals with developmental disabilities. That kind of daily, consistent commitment teaches you things a classroom can’t. It’s where I learned to show up, adapt, and get things done regardless of the circumstances.
VStage started as Spotlight, a real-time digital experience platform I co-founded and eventually paused when the timing wasn’t right. The vision evolved. The skills carried over. Now the focus is on building practical AI solutions for real clients and developing in-house products that push what these systems can do.
2025 – Present
VStage Inc
Building 5 AI projects. Active consulting clients across law firms, schools, nonprofits, and creative teams. SpawnID infrastructure. Council of AIs multi-agent framework.
2023 – 2025
Spotlight (Founded & Paused)
Co-founded a real-time digital experience platform. Built the architecture, incorporated, and eventually paused when the team alignment wasn't there. The lessons and the vision carried forward into VStage.
2022 – 2024
Columbia University
B.S. Applied Physics. Quantum mechanics, data modeling, nanotechnology, advanced lab work. Transferred 68 credits from Yeshiva.
Summer 2021
Bar-Ilan University
Quantum spintronics research. Studied field-switching phenomena and the Anomalous Hall Effect under faculty supervision.
2019 – 2022
Yeshiva University
B.A. Pre-Engineering, Honors (3.64 GPA). Engineering Club President. NCAA Fencing team. Founded the annual STEM Expo. Won 1st Place at the Innovation Lab Challenge for a lithium-ion battery recycling model.
2021 – Present
HASC Center
4+ years as a Direct Service Provider working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Consistent, hands-on work that built discipline, empathy, and resilience.
2020 – 2023
City of Long Beach, Sanitation
Reliable early-morning shifts alongside full-time academics. Essential worker during the pandemic.
Summer 2017
Cedarview Capital Management
Distressed credit internship. Financial analysis, recovery modeling, and exposure to institutional investing.
Studying applied physics gave me more than technical knowledge. It trained a way of thinking: how to break down complex problems, model systems, and apply ideas in real environments.
Calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, probability. The foundation for financial modeling, data analysis, and system optimization.
Quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, nanotechnology. Experimental design, hypothesis testing, and research methodology in lab environments.
Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, data pipelines. AI systems, automation, signal processing, and full-stack development.
Financial modeling, portfolio analysis, autonomous trading systems. From distressed credit at Cedarview Capital to building AI-driven market agents.
Systems thinking, abstraction, modeling. Breaking down complex problems and finding creative, efficient paths to solutions.
I treat AI as its own discipline. My physics background gave me deep exposure to math, science, and coding, but the real advantage is knowing how to learn fast and apply knowledge creatively. AI amplifies that.
Over the last two years I’ve built proficiency in Python, GPT-based systems, prompt engineering, multi-agent architectures, and applied AI workflows. Each project is a chance to push what these systems can do further.
